The images from Amy and Juan's wedding have been popping up on Instagram for the past few weeks now and we've been waiting with excited anticipation for Amy to send them over to us to feature on the blog! The reason we've been so looking forward to sharing this wedding, is because Amy is one of the first brides in the UK to wear the incredible Jesus Peiro 110 dotty taffeta wedding dress, and wow - she did it wonderfully! We love everything about Amy and Juan's day - from the gorgeous colourful florals to the fun, relaxed party atmosphere. The bride and groom even got behind the decks with the DJ - how cool is that?
Read on to find out more about their day, with images taken by Chloe Winstanley.
Jesus Peiro 110 Dotty Taffeta wedding dress
The dress I chose was the Jesus Peiro 110 in dotty taffeta. It was not what I expected to wear when I started the dress shopping process but I totally loved everything about it!
I had heard so many times that you end up getting the dress you least expect. However, I was so certain I wanted flowers and lace I didn't think it would happen to me. Well it did! The moment I tried on the Jesus Peiro 110 something felt different. It felt like the one. I loved the firm fabric, the amazing silhouette and the way it was modern, contemporary yet classic unlike anything else I had tried.
When my fiancé asked me how the dress shopping had gone I told him I had "found the one".
Despite this I did 2nd guess myself and tried on some dresses at a different shop but nothing compared to the Jesus Peiro.
Dress Shopping
My Mum, my sister and one of my bridesmaids came dress shopping with me. Their reaction was priceless and I think they knew it was the one straight away but I was heavily weighing it up with another dress in the Miss Bush shop.
Trying on wedding dresses is a truly amazing experience. What set Emma and the Miss Bush team apart was the fact that they really knew their stuff but also didn't just tell you every dress "looked lovely" which happened in the other places I tried on. Their feedback was honest and genuine.
I really enjoyed that I picked out 3 dresses to try and Emma picked out 3 dresses for me to try. I probably never would have tried on the 110 if it hadn't been for Emma and of course it ended up being the dress I bought! I had never heard of Jesus Peiro before Miss Bush and on top of that had never seen a wedding dress with such a contemporary fabric. I suppose that is why I didn't chose it to try myself but it just shows you need to think outside the box!
Styling
Because the fabric on the 110 spoke for itself I kept the rest of the styling discreet. I used the beautiful meadow flower hair pins by Miss Clemmie in my hair and I borrowed a friend's long plain veil to fulfil the 'something borrowed' adage. I didn't splash out on shoes as no one would have seen them but they were very comfortable from The Rainbow Club.
A fun, Surrey wedding with a party atmosphere
We got married in the church around the corner from my Parent's house. Part of the plan was to walk back from church with all our guests following us back. Despite a gloriously hot (too hot!) week in the run up to the day the Saturday was forecast to rain all day. When I fetched my dress Emma gave me some stern but comforting words about gaining perspective and having a back up plan in place.
We managed to borrow about 100 white umbrella's ready for the walk but in the end the rain stopped just before the ceremony and they weren't needed! The funniest moment was when the Amazon delivery guy even dropped off the extra large white golf umbrella just as we were leaving the house. I signed for it in my wedding dress!
We love music so this heavily influenced our day. The style was a mix of Ibiza vibes meets country garden wedding! The Ibiza vibes were created by the most amazing DJ and Saxophonist who played tropical house during the reception. The tables were named after music genre's and the stunning flowers were created by Mad Lillies.
We have lots of raucous friends and there has become a tradition amongst my rowing university friends to bring a duck called Albert to weddings which ends up being filled with wine. Well it was so funny to watch the duck make it’s way around the whole wedding, not just the rowing friends, being poured into people’s mouth! There were constant cheers emitted from the room.
The best bits
I have so many favourite parts of the day but the most spontaneous and unplanned moment was when the reception DJ called us behind the decks as he was playing one of our favourite tracks. We were dancing behind the decks with everyone singing at the front. The party truly started well before the sit down meal!
Other highlights include the morning with my Mum and the girls, walking down the aisle (one way with my Dad and the other way with a Husband!), doing a speech and dancing long into the night!
Amy's Advice
My advice about finding your dream dress is to leave any pre conceived ideas at the door and go in with an open mind. Go with your heart and what makes you feel good and not what you think is traditional or what other people would want.
My advice around wedding planning is to have fun! Make it capture you and your partner’s character and I know this sounds obvious but make it about love, not about the performance/production of the day.
If you are thinking about doing a speech definitely do one!
