We have such a beautifully romantic winter wedding to share with you today! The lovely Anna and her husband Chris were married in late November at Bury Court Barn near Farnham, which they chose for its warm and welcoming country feel with a touch of winter glamour. We love the rustic feel of their day, with natural wood textures, warm rich colours, soft romantic candles and twinkling fairylights.

Anna wore an incredible bespoke Suzanne Neville wedding dress for her wedding, which went wonderfully with the elegant but relaxed feel of their day, and looked extra glamorous with a faux fur stole!

Bespoke Suzanne Neville wedding dress

I chose to combine a couple of Suzanne Neville dresses to create something unique to me. I LOVED the neckline and the little details that complimented how understated the dress was. I knew I wanted something that was relatively "plain" and classic but that was modern and crisp. I honestly have never felt so elegant than when I put it on!

Dress Shopping

I had a bit of a squad with me the first time I went dress shopping; I brought my bridesmaids who's opinion I trusted. Once I knew a bit more of what I wanted I brought my Godmother along as she has an intensely keen eye for detail and I knew that she would help me with the finer points.

It was really fun having the freedom to try on so many styles - I didn't really know what I wanted at the very beginning so seeing how each fabric, colour and dress cut looked on me really helped.

In all honesty, I found the pressure of finding "the one" a bit overwhelming and I wasn't looking forward to dress shopping before I started. I'm not stick thin, but nor did I want to be pigeonholed into only trying on dresses that would "flatter my figure".

The team at Miss Bush genuinely care and made me feel at ease. Emma and Corinne particularly gave me confidence to try on loads of dresses, they didn't rush or pressure me and I can truthfully say that they always had my back and empowered me to feel confident in not only my lovely dress but my own skin.

Styling

I wanted a classic look with a modern twist; my dress was a crisp ivory with clean, yet feminine lines from Suzanne Neville. I had a waterfall veil with ribbon edging which I fell in love with.

To tie in with the wintery theme, I had a gold and pearl hair slide from Miss. Clemmie. I'd searched for a while for one before I came across my one which was perfect.

My shoes were from the Rainbow Club and they were dyed a pale blue - just because!

For hair and makeup I wanted "no-make up make" and a romantic up do. I had seen Carolanne Armstrong at a few events and did a bit of research on Instagram and luckily she was available for my wedding. She was so lovely and listened to everything I wanted and how I wanted feel.

A wild, romantic Bury Court Barn Wedding

I wanted the day to be romantic, slightly wild, full of candlelight and not gimmicky winter. I started with the colour scheme which was burgundy, dusky blush pink and navy blue with a few hints of gold.

The bridesmaids wore Ghost Taylor dresses in both blush pink and navy blue and they looked stunning.

The decor was relatively minimal but we hired table decor and furniture items from Okehurst Design who were really helpful. I wanted to create a feeling of being in the countryside and as I am a horse rider I snuck a little bit of equestrian style furniture in there too; saddle bar stools!!

Our stationery which was BEAUTIFUL burgundy with gold handwritten calligraphy was made by the very talented Ellie from ERA Calligraphy.

Everyone was raving about the food which was the most delicious roast beef with all the trimmings created by the wonderful team at Jacaranda. Our day went so smoothly thanks to them and the utterly amazing team at Bury Court Barn.

Our flowers reflected the colour scheme and were produced by one of our friends, Heather at the Big Green Leaf.

Finally, our whole day was captured by Tash at Musk Photography and the photos are my most treasured possession!

The best bits

I loved all of it, but a few moments that stick out are walking into the church and seeing Chris and feeling the love from all our family and friends and hearing the laughter and chatter and seeing the ridiculous dance moves of all our friends and family.

Anna's Advice

Even though it might seem like a monumental task, enjoy every minute of the planning, the build up and the day because it goes SO quickly and you'll want to do it all again. I honestly loved it all because it is ultimately just a big party to say how much you love your partner.

Also, I'm a bit gutted we didn't get a video of the day so if you have the option to, DO IT!
