Today we're sharing the gorgeous, modern and cosy wedding of Jessica and Lee, who were married at much loved Surrey venue, Millbridge Court, with a dream team of local suppliers to make the day extra special. With a colour palette of rich ruby reds, lush deep greens and warming gold, the flowers by Hannah Berry Flowers and contemporary styling brought a cosy Autumnal feel to their late October wedding day.

Jessica wore Suzanne Neville's Swanson wedding dress, with its high neckline, perfectly fitted bodice and comfortable full skirt making the ideal choice for the occasion.

Suzanne Neville Swanson wedding dress

I knew I wanted something classic yet original, with not too much going on but still wow. I wanted to feel the best ever, but most importantly I wanted to still be comfy! When I tried on the Swanson, I felt like myself but a more beautiful version, I felt confident and saw it fitting in with my vision for the whole day. Plus, I could dance in it – which was also a must!

Dress Shopping

Miss Buss was my first ever wedding dress appointment, and I was just as nervous as I was excited to start the journey of finding THE dress. I took only my mum, with the aim to get a good steer on the style of dress I liked, and those that were a definite NO, before taking my bridesmaids along to help choose too. After trying on a few different styles, the amazing Corrine 'jacked' me up with a veil and some flowers in a Bardot style dress which I had always thought would be the design I'd choose... and I got TEARS! Mum cried, I cried (I think Corrine had a tear too!) - and I thought I was having THE moment.... but I wasn't completely decided, so Corrine suggested I try a dress that she thought would suit me and the style I was going for - The Swanson. I came out, and we just knew. We were just stunned into silence, no tears this time just pure happiness and sheer excitement, mum couldn't sit still!

Styling

I loved my dress so much, I wanted to keep it classic and not add too much fuss so I simply added a beautiful waterfall veil with a satin edge, along with my Jimmy Choos and simple stud earrings. I did add a custom made diamante belt from Miss Bush, just before my first dance to add some glitz for the evening party!

A modern Millbridge Court wedding

I wanted our day to feel modern but really cosy; tasteful with all the little details that even if no one else noticed, I knew were there. As we were getting married in Autumn, I wanted to bring through the beautiful golds, berry and blush colours which fit our venue perfectly too. Our venue itself didn’t need a lot of styling, which is what drew me to it in the first place, it was beautiful on its own and our florist Hannah Berry recommended ways to repurpose our flowers during the day which saved us some pennies and worked perfectly! The food/drink and music on the day was really important for us both. Kalm Kitchen provided the most delicious beef for dinner followed by a Patisserie Bar with lots of mini desserts for pudding. The espresso martinis afterwards were a particular favourite amongst our guests! To top it all off, our band were just incredible, they sang throughout dinner right through to the end of the night, keeping everyone dancing the entire time! We had a massive party with everyone we loved – it was the best day ever!

The best bits

So much! My mum walking me down the aisle was so special and seeing Lee for the first time in my dress! Our dinner set from the Band was a particular favourite for both of us, it was a surprise for our guests and the band was just incredible, they had everyone up dancing the ENTIRE DAY, we just didn't know whether to eat our dinner or carrying on partying!

Jessica's Advice

When it comes to the dress, go with what you feel the most confident in - even if it's completely different to what you originally thought you would choose. Corrine and the team are amazing at guiding you through styles of dresses which will suit your body, style and overall look for your day, and you will come out feeling and looking your best!

On the big day, take 5 minutes to step back and just take it all in. It really does go by so quickly and you will realise all the little things we've spent month's worrying about just don't matter. Also – don’t fret about the rain! (Unless your wedding is outside of course). It rained ALL DAY for us, it just didn’t stop, but no one noticed! If anything, it made it feel even more cosy and intimate, plus it kept everyone inside partying the entire day!

Your wedding is worth waiting for because…the whole experience ESPECIALLY the build-up is the most exciting time ever! You don’t want to rush or tarnish any moment let alone your special day. I enjoyed all the events, moments, tasks, girl’s day outs leading up to the big day just as much as the day itself. By waiting you’re making sure you get the exact experience you’ve dreamed of and you deserve!
