Hannah & Jak's simple, relaxed wedding day took place in April at the stunning Launcells Barton, an exclusive use country house wedding venue in Bude, Cornwall. The feel of the day fresh and natural, with lots of flowers and foliage, with a simple, neutral colour palette of whites and creams.
Hannah's bridal look reflected her personal style and personality perfectly, choosing a modern, minimalist wedding dress from Jesus Peiro. Style 207 is a sleek figure hugging dress made from rich crepe, with a contemporary high neckline that Hannah just loved. She made the dress her own with the additional of a fabulous open keyhole back, which looked just stunning above the row of fabric covered buttons and sweeping train.

Customised Jesus Peiro 207 wedding dress
I chose the Jesus Piero 207 but with an incredible customised back. I remember falling in love with this dress online before my first appointment but I actually didn't end up trying it on in my first appointment, to be honest when I saw it I just thought it wasn't going to work on my curvier figure so I tried on some different styles.
I came back in for the second time and got the courage to try 207 on and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED it!! I have always been interested in fashion and have a certain style. This dress, for me, was everything I could have dreamed of. Something that no one would have expected or perhaps seen before, but a dress people would look at and say "that is such a Hannah dress!".
As soon as the neckline of the dress hit my face I knew this was my dress, there was just no other option. The only concerns I had were that the back was so covered up, Emma then suggested we could make a large keyhole cut out, which would give me that flash of back I wanted but keeping the simplistic elegance of the high neck. That was me then completely sold!!
I felt absolutely incredible in my dress, it worked with my figure so beautifully; I felt so sexy, comfortable, stylish and most importantly, I felt like me! I have never had so many compliments in my life, everyone was literally obsessed with this dress!!
The first time I tried this dress on, I had my Mum and two Maids of Honour. My mum wasn't so sure about it, but my Maids of Honour's absolutely loved it!! I think the style was so different that Mum struggled to visualise it as a wedding dress but my friends knew this style was 100% me.
The second time I tried this dress on, my Mum and Jak's Mum came. My Mum did a complete 180 and was completely taken with this dress and said "This is the one, Hannah!!" . Jak's Mum was so shocked, she said she would never have expected a dress like this as it is so different but she loved it so much. I was so happy to see their reactions, especially Mum's as she finally saw what I had seen the first time I tried it on.
Dress Shopping
It was a nerve wracking experience on the lead up, mainly because I have had some weight struggles in the past couple of years so not feeling 100% myself made the thought of wedding dress shopping very hard.
But the moment I walked into Miss Bush, the reality was so different. It has always been a childhood dream of mine to try a wedding dress on in Miss Bush, living in Pyrford we drove and walked past this boutique all the time and I never could have imagined I would actually one day try dresses on here!
Corrine was absolutely amazing and reassured me so much, when she knew I was feeling insecure. I felt immediately at ease and all the advice I got was to help me get the best out of the experience. When I thought I was going to go for another dress, I think Emma could tell my heart wasn't in it. When Emma raised the 207 up to my face and we put it on, she said "She has arrived" and that is exactly how I felt. That was my favourite part of the whole thing. I felt like Emma completely read me and it gave me the confidence and belief that someone with my body shape could actually wear this dress!!
The seamstress, Willow, was simply AMAZING!!! When the dress first arrived, it was obviously very different from the sample dress I tried on in the chapel. Willow was amazing in reassuring me (at times took on the role of my counsellor haha) and making the dress fit me perfectly so it felt more slinky and sexy to my body.
Styling
I wanted to keep the styling very simple and elegant. I am absolutely obsessed with pearls, I just love them so I wanted them to be incorporated into the styling. We chose a gorgeous chapel veil with pearl detailing from Jesus Piero, which was just perfection.
I had to get pearls in there somewhere and the veil worked so well with the dress as the dress was so elegant and simple, the veil just gave it that extra bit of styling- so stunning!
My shoes were the Maridel ivory satin sandal from Dune, London. A gorgeously high shoe with some incredible embellishment on the back!
I found an amazing make up artist/hair stylist, Gemma Sutton, who also made bridal hair accessories, so I chose some very simple and delicate hair grips with pearl and crystal detailing which worked so perfectly with my high bun and the rest of the styling.
Jewellery wise, again I kept it very simple and wore my vintage pearl single drop earrings that my parents bought me for my 21st birthday.
A relaxed, rustic wedding in Cornwall
From the get go, Jak and I made the decision that our day was not going to be over thought or over styled; we wanted it to be a reflection of us as a couple and keep the day and the lead up as chilled as possible.
With it being a spring wedding, we wanted to keep the theme fresh and clean so opted for a mainly green foliage with hints of white and quicksand rose. When we fell in love with our venue, we adored the rustic nature with the green of the landscape, the stone walls, old slate, beautiful rustic wood of the barns and the beautiful stone house; we knew we wanted to compliment those tones in our styling, flowers and bridesmaid dresses. We chose a simple navy suit for the boys and a mixture of tonal greens, champagne and rusty orange for the bridesmaid dresses. These colours complimented the venue so well, with the earthy warm tones of the venue as the perfect back drop.
The ceremony barn was decorated with lots of olive foliage and Jo Malone's "Wood Sage & Sea Salt" candles burning, the smell was just insane!!
After the ceremony we kicked off the celebrations with welcome drinks in the walled garden and courtyard where we had our canapes such as some incredible sushi, miniature Cornish pasties and lots of Prosecco and Pimms. We had our live guitarist and singer playing throughout.
The reception barn was decorated with lots of olive, ferns and eucalyptus foliage with scattered bud vases and candles throughout.
We knew we wanted to remember those who could not be with us that day but were conscious we wanted to incorporate it into our styling somehow, but also ensuring it wasn't an massive statement. I have always been obsessed with candles (after all lighting is key!) and I thought perhaps we could dress some of the dinner tables with dinner candles which had those peoples names scripted on them. Jak introduced me to one of his friends and she was able to create these for us, they are one of my favourite parts of the wedding. They looked amazing and were the perfect gesture and to honour our grandparents who were no longer with us.
The best bits
The morning of the wedding was so much fun! There were no nerves, no stress, no worries, it was just full of laughs, dancing, music and champers! To have that time to get ready with my sisters, my best friends and my Mum, it was so special and memories that will stay with me forever. My mum was also the only person who had seen my dress so seeing the girls reactions that morning was amazing- they loved it!!
The other favourite part of the day was at sunset when our photographer and videographer took us away for the golden hour photos. It was the first time that day when me and Jak were fully relaxed, with the ceremony and speeches all done, and gave us the time to laugh and joke about the day so far. The photos that were caught during that time are my absolute favourites!
Hannah's Advice
Enjoy every single moment of it, because when it is over, the wedding blues are a real thing!
Dress shopping can be nerve wracking but picking your shops and your guests are very important. Never overwhelm yourself with too many opinions and try and stay focused on what you want. If you aren't feeling body confident, just remember that you should only buy a dress that fits YOU and YOUR body, not a dress that you need to fit your body into.
