Located just outside Paris, the incredible Royaumont Abbey was host for Lynn & Yoann's beautiful June wedding. Lynn said "The only way to describe this venue for us is love at first sight. We instantly fell in love with the history, the tranquility, the beauty, and most of all, we love that Royaumont focuses on the creation and accompaniment of artists in their journey, including a robust artists-in-residence program. Royaumont has led several lives, first as a Cistercian monastery, then successively as a royal abbey, a cotton mill, a novitiate, a World War I military hospital, and a country home. It has never been left unoccupied."

Lynn wore Jesus Peiro's 2316 wedding dress. This chic, simple dress is made from cobra taffeta, with a moulded bust with strapless neckline. The full skirt includes a fabulous front split, finished with pockets and delicate bow belt. To style her dress, Lynn added a fabulous pair of Christian Dior heels, which looked incredible with the slit skirt. To finish, she added the Mother of pearl and pearl 'Hakuro' statement drop earrings from Freya Rose.

Jesus Peiro 2316 wedding dress

I chose Jesus Peiro Style 2316, without the sleeves. I knew I wanted something simple, elegant, modern, and architectural to go with the stunning venue. Even though I looked through the website a zillion times, I did not pick out this dress — Emma chose it for me at my appointment. I love that Style 2316 is perfectly structured through the bodice with just the right feminine detail in the bow, and the long train was just so much fun to wear on my wedding day. Plus, the little bit of leg showing was just the right amount of sass for me and... pockets! Wearing this dress was a dream. I was totally comfortable and felt like myself, which was really important to me.

When I found the dress I brought my best friend Krissy with me, who you see in the photos officiating our ceremony. She flew all the way from the west coast of the United States for the weekend to come with my to my appointment, so it was really special for me that she was there AND that I actually found my dress that day! When I put on Style 2316 I think we BOTH were immediately convinced that would be the dress I would wear on my wedding day. It just worked.

Dress Shopping

My favourite part of my dress shopping experience was how low pressure it was. I never felt rushed or pressured, Emma and the team just really wanted me to be happy. That was a huge relief and one of the reasons I went with Miss Bush. I felt like everyone was honest with me and had my best interests at heart. Plus... I couldn't find anywhere else in all of Europe that had such a stunning collection of Jesus Peiro dresses! I knew I loved Jesus Peiro and wanted to wear one of their creations — the range and variety at Miss Bush is second to none.

I don't live in the UK, and the Miss Bush team was so accommodating of my travel schedule. They were able to get me in twice in one week for fittings so that I didn't have to travel back and forth, which made it so seamless and easy.

Styling

Given the big slit in front of the Jesus Peiro Style 2316, I knew the first thing I needed was a fabulous pair of shoes. I wore Christian Dior for the shoes because I love everything about this beautiful house and its and classy, refined elegance. The shoes were so sparkly, perfect to shine with the gown. Because the shoes were very intricate and bling, I kept everything else really simple. I didn't feel like myself in a veil, so I went no veil. My only other jewellery besides rings were Freya Rose earrings that I found at Miss Bush — I loved these earrings because they were also architectural and simple, yet big enough to stand out as really my only jewellery piece.

A French wedding at Royaumont Abbey

The venue was so special for us that we wanted it to shine. So our decorations were really minimal — white flowers with lots of greenery, some gold touches and that's it! We didn't really have a specific theme, we just wanted everyone to be wowed by the beauty and history of the abbey.

The best bits

It was bright, hot, and sunny the entire week leading up to our wedding. Even the day of, the sun was shining. And then as soon as the ceremony started, the clouds rolled in, and a noticeable cool breeze swept through the crowd of our loved ones. It even started thundering — we truly thought it was going to start pouring in the middle of our outdoor ceremony! Just as we finished and started walking away, the sky opened up and it started pouring, so we ran into the abbey together — hand in hand as husband and wife — to take cover, where we watched all our guests run in behind us. It was such a beautiful moment that went just right, and one we will surely never forget!

Lynn's Advice

Don't get so hung up on pouring over pictures online. You never know what will look good on YOUR body and feel right for you until you try! So be open to trying many things until you really find what works for you. The dress I thought I was going to buy after looking at the pictures online was not at all the same in person, so you just never know.
