Before the Chapel was our showroom, it was our workroom. One of our incredibly talented seamstresses, Annette, came in to work one day and could no longer sew. A simple task was immediately beyond her. I now know that this is a red flag for a neurological problem and in Annette’s case a brain tumour.
Aimee chose a beautiful Jesus Peiro dress for her wedding to James. Shortly after choosing her dress Aimee was diagnosed with a brain tumour and in her words, postponed the wedding as she was “upset and so many other emotions, but I am putting all my energies into fighting the tumour."
In 2015, renowned chef John King was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumour, a condition from which he sadly passed away on 22 November 2016 after an incredibly brave and dignified fight against his illness. In 2024 his daughter and wife Holly and Laura came to Miss Bush to choose a wedding dress, and shared his story with us.

Aimee
Annette, John and recently Aimee all lost their fights against this cruel illness.
Aimee had been planning on wearing her dress on the 7th November this year. A message from Aimee’s Mother Jenny last month informed us that “sadly this was not to be as Aimee suffered a further seizure on 6th November and did not regain consciousness, so the wedding did not take place. Aimee died peacefully on Sunday 10th November.”

This year, our Christmas charity donations are going to be to Maggies as requested by Jenny, and the John King Brain Tumour Foundation.
Please visit their websites via the links below to read about their wonderful work.
This Christmas we will also donate to The Elizabeth Foundation, a specialist preschool for deaf children attended by Georgie Evans' son Xander. Georgie is our new brand partnership consultant. Simply, Georgie says she would be lost without them. Read their incredible story via the link below.
