Hannah and Adam were married in January, with a joyous, family focused wedding set around London with 3 incredible locations providing the backdrop to their day. The celebrations started at their local church - the beautiful St James Church in Kidbrooke, where they exchanged vows in an intimate, romantic ceremony. This was followed by a stunning portrait session at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich, finished with a relaxed, elegant reception at Trafalgar Tavern, also in Greenwich.

Hannah wore a combination of styles from Jesus Peiro, opting for the simple but perfectly fitted 2435 wedding dress with chic scooped neckline and embroidered detailing to the wide shoulder straps. This was topped with Jesus Peiro's show-stopping 2435 - a high necked poncho style cape made from exquisite glittering embellished tulle, with a sweeping train for added drama. Hannah accessorised her dress with timeless, elegant accessories including a veil from Nortier, classic gold jewellery and fabulous gold heels from Dune.

Jesus Peiro 2435 wedding dress and 2415 sparkly cape

My Mother, Bridesmaid Siobhan and Bridesman John came dress shopping with me. Their faces looked like how I felt - happy and excited. I knew the cape was the one soon as I saw myself in the mirror. I initially thought a veil would be too much with the cape but like a Mexican wave John Cried, Siobhan Cried, my mother cried and Emma said Veil are like liquid tear gas! I felt a million dollars and I looked like the 'old school Hollywood' mid century glamour I love and it was something Grace Kelly definitely would have worn in 2025. My Mum reminded me that before we left Adam, my now husband, said he hoped I find a dress that makes me feel as beautiful as he sees me and after seeing my face in this outfit Mum said that she agreed that I had chosen the dress that did that.

Dress Shopping

My favourite part of the dress shopping experience was trying on dresses, feeling and seeing in real life how beautifully made the dresses were. You don't get to feel the sumptuous weight of the dress on instagram. One of the reasons I chose the dress I did was how it FELT on, the heavy fabric skirt just felt divine. Honestly coming to Miss Bush and wearing a Jesus Piero dress & Cape was the best therapy for anyone with body image issues. I realised in the appointment I was believing a lot of lies about myself and that I am beautiful and didn't need to be slimmer to be an elegant bride.

There weren't really any problems, more problem solving. I loved 2435, but the high buttoned back clashed with the buttons on the back of the cape so Miss Bush resolved this by Jo altering the back to be lower. They also kindly rescheduled the time of a fitting appointment short notice by 3hours due to my bridesmaid having childcare issues, which we were so grateful for. Thank you for also letting me buy the sample so I could get the dress and cape in budget and not compromise on the dream - THANK YOU.

Styling

As my dress was an altered sample I was restricted to what shoes I could wear due to my 5ft 10 height. I wanted a peep toe shoe to allow 'breathing room' from being quiet covered with the dress and cape. Great advice from Emma was to go for a metallic gold shoe to go with the earrings as if it had rained on our winter wedding they would have not shown up the dirt as easily. Having a narrow brief of low heel, metallic, open toe helped narrow the search down made it a fun challenge. I went for a lovely gentle ballerina pink nail varnish for my toes and lighter shade of pink for my fingernails. I chose the colours and only after found out the colours were called 'elegance' and 'kindness' which I thought had perfect sentiment walking down the isle to Adam the kindest man I know feeling elegant.

My earrings were my something old - I wore them by chance to my first fitting appointment and found they worked. The strength in the hoop held their own against the pattern of the cape and appear modern and clean. I wear gold hoops of various sizes most days when not at work so it felt right I wore them on at our wedding. After all, I wanted to transform like all brides but still be myself.

Emma was right, as ever! To go for a veil - clean so it didn't clash with the cape and long length to bring drama for the large church and historical Greenwich architecture of the day.

A relaxed, joyous wedding in London

We were married in our church here in London and our couple photos were taken in the Royal Naval college Greenwich one of our favourite places to walk and read our books on a lazy sunny day off work. Our reception was at the local pub. Luckily our local pub, the Trafalgar Tavern has the most spectacular views over the Thames and event rooms. The beautiful floor to ceiling historical paintings meant we saved budget as it needed minimal decorating and we both love history and wanted our wedding to reflect our lives in Greenwich where we live. We wanted a traditional local community wedding so we prioritised family and friends making things and contributing where they wanted and then after found suppliers for uncovered areas. One friend made the cake, another the bridesmaid dresses and the worship band for the ceremony were all insanely talented professional musician friends.

My florist Hannah from Lilly & Liz is someone I used to do volunteer work with and loved her relaxed, modern and joyous flowers. I wanted winter warmth so went for golds, rusts and deep greens. I took inspiration from the aesthetic of 'London-English-modern-heritage' if that is an allowed style genre....such as the artwork and design of Luke Edward Hall, Ben Pentreath & William Morris. In homage I painted my own place cards and selected relaxed painterly graphics for our signage. Adam loves the Beatles and mid century design so their music featured and were our table names. My Brother is a professional vintage car restorer and drove us in his 1960s W115 power blue Mercedes-Benz.

The best bits

Seeing the sunshine through the hotel window getting ready knowing we were going to have a spectacular day.... I never needed to have asked the podcast question about rain in the end! It was a ridiculously beautiful weather for January.

Walking into the church with my Dad and seeing Adam whilst feeling proud of how I looked surrounded by the tangible feeling of love of our people being 'for us' as a couple.

Walking with Diana our Photographer and Adam in the Naval college having time alone enjoying the sunshine and tourists taking photos like we were Royalty. It was so funny!

Dancing to Cher 'Believe' in my Cape feeling like an absolute Queen.

Hannah's Advice

Book an appointment with Miss Bush and wear big knickers! Mic drop....

In all seriousness, Trust Emma and come with an idea of what you like but hold those ideas lightly as a curve ball / slight alternative maybe the right dress. Best advice I could give to anyone planning/styling their wedding don't try to go for one style 'matchy matchy' trust that if you and your partner love it, you are the natural common denominator so it will all naturally all go together. Prioritise the dress and save budget in other areas as your dress is your statement and shield. If you feel elegant and proud of yourself everything else will flow.
