Linda and Stu’s beautiful Summer wedding took place at one of our favourite local venues, Millbridge Court; a contemporary, barn located in Farnam. Linda wore the delicate embroidered ‘Jorie’ wedding dress by Maggie Sottero which features a beautiful leaf motif. We no longer stock this label, but fans of intricate detailed gowns will love our new designer, Eliza Jane Howell.
MAGGIE SOTTERO JORIE
=I chose Jorie by Maggie Sottero for my wedding dress and absolutely loved it.
I initially saw the dress online on the Maggie Sottero website and loved how different it was to other wedding dresses I had seen and tried on. When I saw Miss Bush stocked it, I knew I had to try it on and in person the dress was even better than I had imagined – the intricate beading and layers on the dress were absolutely beautiful and the open back was exactly what I was looking for.
I loved wearing the dress – it was so comfortable and lightweight that I could have danced all night in it!
DRESS SHOPPING
I’ve always preferred clothes shopping on my own so my first visit to Miss Bush was solo as well – I knew when I tried the dress on it was a contender to be ‘the one’ however just to be sure the next day I took one of my friends back with me. I told her a liked a few dresses but didn’t say which one was my favourite. When I stepped out in this dress her face just lit up and she said ‘that’s the one’; that’s when I knew for sure that this was the dress for me.
My favourite part of the dress shopping experience was seeing the fitting process. The dress I bought was in the sample sale and was a few sizes too big and I was worried it might swamp me. It was hard to imagine what it would look like after all the alterations however Jo, the seamstress, was like a fairy godmother and after just one fitting appointment, the dress fitted perfectly!
STYLING
Because the dress was so beaded and delicate, I didn’t want to overdo it with accessories. At first, I wasn’t sure I wanted a veil but after trying one on it made me feel like a bride. I was conscious not to cover the back of the dress as that was one of my favourite parts but I found a perfect almost see through veil from Britten which completed the look.
In terms of jewellery, I wore simple pearl drop earrings and a silver vine necklace that matched the embroidery on the dress. I also included a beautiful hair pin which complimented the dress as well.
The shoes I wore were from Rachel Simpson and they were so comfortable throughout the whole day and night – I didn’t need to take them off and change into mt ‘just in case’ flats! They were simple shoes so I added some sparkle to them with some shoe clips.
A CONTEMPORARY BARN WEDDING
We wanted everyone to enjoy our day and wanted it to reflect our style and interests. Millbridge Court is an absolutely stunning venue – it’s contemporary style, large modern barns with floor to ceiling windows made it the obvious choice for us. It absolutely poured it down the day before the wedding but luckily on the day the sun came out so we were able to make use of the beautiful garden for prosecco and canapes and photos.
We based the table names on places we had visited together with centrepieces including a photo of us at that location, travel books and bud vases.
THE BEST BITS
It’s so hard to choose a favourite part of the day, we loved everything from start to finish! One of my favourite parts of the day was walking down the aisle and seeing Stu at the end with a massive smile on his face. I also loved having everyone we know and love together in one place!
ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE
Focus on what is important to you not what you feel like you should have.
Wedmin can be stressful and can take over your life – but it is worth it, our wedding was the best day of our lives!
