There is so much to love about the wedding we’re about to share with you. The iconic venue, fabulously fun New Year’s Eve celebrations, Aisha’s crisp, perfectly fitted Jesus Peiro gown, groom Russell’s cool art deco inspired jacket and of course the joy and love that radiates from every image.
Aisha and Russell were married on New Years Eve last year at the Searcy’s champagne bar in St Pancras, London. Read on to find out more about their day, Aisha’s dress and of course see a gallery of gorgeous images by their photographer, Andrew Jukes Photography.
JESUS PEIRO 6000
Aisha wore a cult favourite at Miss Bush. Loved for it’s sharp tailoring, minimalist lines and heavy, luxurious fabric, Jesus Peiro 6000 never disappoints and looks incredible on every bride who chooses it.
We asked Aisha to tell us about her experience choosing her Jesus Peiro dress;
“I could never imagine what sort of dress I’d wear for my wedding. When I was shopping with my friend for her wedding she told me about a dress she had seen that would be perfect for me. When she showed it to me I instantly fell in love with it but I wasn’t even engaged at the time so forgot about it.”
“As luck would have it when I got engaged another friend of mine recommended I go to Miss Bush as she thought they had an excellent range of dresses. I looked on the website and they stocked my dream dress! When I went for my appointment with Corinne she said to try the 6000 on first. I really loved it but tried on a few more dresses just to check if it was ‘the one.’ Nothing compared to it for me.
I really loved how simple the dress is but also it felt different and striking – and it has pockets! I felt like myself. I loved wearing it on the day. It really fit with our wedding venue and I felt comfortable as well which was important to me.”
DRESS SHOPPING
Aisha took her mum and one bridesmaid wedding dress shopping with her, opting to keep the appointments intimate to avoid becoming overwhelmed by others’ opinions.
Aisha remembers the emotional moment she found her dress;
“When I tried it on my friend started crying and my Mum started singing. Slightly different reactions! It was a great moment and I had a sense of relief that they loved it as much as I did.”
We were so happy to hear that Aisha’s favourite part of the dress shopping experience was none other than our wonderful Corinne;
“Corinne made the experience for me. It was such a foreign experience for me and I hate shopping usually. Even though I had a dress in mind as I said earlier she advised trying on other dresses and I think that really helped me make my decision.
She talked me through the designers and different styles and shapes and gave me time to come to my decision, even though I went full circle in the end.”
STYLING
When it came to accessorising her look, Aisha kept her accessories simple but modern, to complement her striking Jesus Peiro gown;
“The dress to me was quite dramatic so I wanted to keep accessories simple but also modern. I bought a few different earrings and bracelets from Etsy and took them with me to my second fitting to see what worked. With the neckline a necklace didn’t feel right for me so I went with quite large earring instead.
My shoes…well that was another problem as I am not the best in heels. My shoes I already owned but I’d never worn before. I love them but they are a brand called Hotter that my mum likes. They were really comfortable and I survived in them all night which is great as our wedding went on until 3.30am.”
A ST PANCRAS NEW YEARS EVE WEDDING
After first meeting on New Years Eve, Aisha and Russell decided to celebrate their relationship by getting married on New Year’s Eve too, and with their first date taking place at Searcys Champagne Bar in St Pancras it seemed like the ideal location to tie the knot. Aisha told us all about it;
“I got engaged in March last year and me and my husband didn’t really want to wait that long to get married. We met on New Years Eve so decided to have a NYE wedding. We knew we wanted to get married in London and wanted to have a very London wedding. One of our first dates was at The Booking Office in St Pancras Station and while looking for venues I found out that Champagne Bar in St Pancras was a licenced wedding venue and free on NYE which was really exciting.”
“As it was a winter wedding we had lots of flowers and terrariums filled with lights at the station. Since it was held in a Champagne Bar we had a Nebuchadnezzar for reception drinks and then used the bottle as a guest book. The reception was held in a pub where we had wreaths as table runners with lots of candles which looked great as since it was winter it got dark very quickly.
As it was NYE we also wanted a really good party. Our favours for all guests were light up sunglasses, ties and bow ties and at midnight we had confetti cannons and a champagne toast.”
THE BEST BITS
When asked about the best parts of the day, Aisha said;
“I thought the ceremony would be daunting with 120 people watching you but I really loved it. It felt like only me and my husband Russell were they only people there at some moments and just felt really special.
Also walking in to the station and going along the concourse was pretty amazing. The venue is open to the public, so people stopped and stared and some even watched the whole ceremony.”
ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE
Finally, we asked Aisha to give some words of wedding planning and dress shopping advice for future brides to be;
“I know it’s hard but trust your instincts. Sit down with your partner when you get engaged and write down what you want from your wedding. You can then come back to this if you need to whenever you are having doubts.
Also just enjoy the whole experience. I was fearful about a few things but in the end me, my husband our families and friends had a great day.”
