We are so pleased to share Catriona and Nick's beautiful and romantic Scottish wedding with you today! Taking place in East Lothian, the wedding began with a traditional church ceremony at St Mary's in Haddington. This was followed by an elegantly styled reception at Gilmerton House, North Berwick, with tipis on the lawn filled with stunning summer flowers.
Catriona wore Suzanne Neville's incredible Hailey gown, and the corseted bodice with square neckline was fitted to perfection. This sat above a flowing, elegant skirt with a slit to show off Catriona's gorgeous Manolo Blahnik Hangisi heels, which she chose in a rich emerald green. Catriona finished her look with simple, classic styling, opting for a sleek low pony tail and delicate gold jewellery.

Suzanne Neville Hailey wedding dress
I chose Suzanne Neville, Hailey as I loved how beautifully simple the dress was. After going to a few other dress shops I knew what didn't suit me but I didn't know what did suit me. With every dress I tried on before, I felt like I needed to make a change somewhere, like combining the top of one with the skirt of another but the moment I put on the Hailey dress I just knew it was everything I had been looking for in one dress. I felt the best version of myself and didn’t worry about any of the things I had said I was going to be concerned about. This is when I knew this dress was what I was going to marry Nick in. I was lucky enough to try the dress on at the Suzanne Neville Designer Day so Suzanne was there when I tried on the dress and saw me crying. It was one of the most special moments I have experienced. I even have a sketch of me in my dress from Suzanne Neville - it has pride of place in our hallway!
Dress Shopping
I brought my mum and my now mother-in-law. My mum lives in Edinburgh so she had come down especially for this. We hadn't thought I would actually find the dress that day, I thought I would just be showing my mum the types of dresses I had been looking at. Both of them cried and my mum said she knew from the smile on my face that this was 100% my dress. It was so special having them both there with me.
I loved everything Emma would tell me about bridal style! So many things I had never even thought of - she really does know everything there is to know about dressing a bride. I felt in really safe hands and knew that I would find my dress at Miss Bush. I went to two other shops before I went to Miss Bush and wow what a difference. What I loved about Miss Bush was the advice I was given, Emma really helped me understand what suited my body and my style, I feel like I was totally lost before I came to Miss Bush.
Styling
I kept it very simple. I loved the back of my dress so I had my hair in a ponytail to keep everything really classic. The dress has a slit so I obviously had to get amazing shoes and there really was no other choice other than Manolo Blahnik. I found the most beautiful emerald green ones that matched my bridesmaids dresses perfectly.
About the Day
We had a church ceremony and then our reception 10 minutes away at Gilmerton House. We had tipis on the front lawn for dinner and dancing and our champagne reception on the beautiful lawns (a little risky for a Scottish wedding but luck was on our side and we had blue skies!). We also had ivy wrapping around all the tipi poles with fairy lights everywhere and all our flowers were meant to look like a wild meadow. It looked so magical. I am Scottish so we had to do a Ceilidh, it was the most chaotic Ceilidh I have ever been to but in the best way possible! We had a pizza van arrive towards the end of the evening to make sure everyone could keep on dancing!
The best bits
The ceremony - walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Nick at the end was the most incredible feeling. I loved standing in front of all our family and friends saying our vows, it really was the happiest day of my life.
Catriona's Advice
Be open to trying on trying on different styles of dresses. I had such a clear picture in my mind of what I thought would suit me but the dress I wore couldn't have been more different! And enjoy every single second of your day, it will go so fast so soak up every moment.
