We're off to Wales today for the magical winter wedding of Clare and James, which took place at Peterstone Court, a beautiful Country House Hotel & Spa set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. The venue was already decorated for the festive season, which set the scene beautifully for their warm, wintery celebration.

Clare wore the iconic Miss Bush Pearl Anniversary Special by Jesus Peiro. Created especially for us to celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2018, the gown is a quintessential Miss Bush gown. With full length sleeves, an elegant boat neckline and full romantic skirt with pockets, it encompasses everything we love in a wedding dress and was the perfect choice for Clare and her December wedding to James.

Jesus Peiro Miss Bush pearl wedding dress

I ended up choosing the beautiful Miss Bush Pearl Anniversary Special. Loved it from head to toe, as cliche as it sounds it honestly made me feel like a princess and I think its a style that will remain classically elegant.I bought my mum and aunt with me when I found 'the one'. I had tried on several Jesus Piero dresses, all of which were beautiful in their own right but when I tried on the Miss Bush Anniversary Special it just felt right. Even though my mum and aunt were wearing masks during the appointment, it was clear from their faces we had a winner.

Dress Shopping

My favourite part of the dress shopping experience was having the ability to try on these utterly stunning dresses. At work I had spent much of the past 2 years wearing scrubs with my hair shoved up in a pony tail, wearing these dresses felt like a transformation. I knew I liked minimalist, classic but big dresses, and it didn't take long on Pinterest to find out that it had to be Jesus Piero, narrowing it down would be the hard bit. Miss Bush stocking the largest collection of Jesus Piero dresses drew me in and then online I found the Miss Bush Pearl Anniversary special. From then on I did look at other dresses but it was always in comparison to it. In the end no other dress could quite live up to it... although I did love playing dress up in several others including 246, 244, 240, 208. In fact I don't think I tried on anything that wasn't Jesus Piero in Miss Bush.

The lovely Miss Bush team were fantastic, especially when it came to rearranging fittings. I had the misfortune by being able to predict lockdowns based on when I had pre booked dress fittings. Living in Wales practically also made things challenging as I had to factor in the commute time. The team were fantastic in sorting my fittings in one day to try to minimise trips back and forth. I also am absolutely terrible at making decisions, definitely was very grateful for Emma's advice throughout, she told me what fabrics would suit best and helped me decide on the impossible choice of which veil to have.

Styling

I found Vivi embellish on Instagram with their beautiful clay flower headbands and the moment i saw it i knew I had to have one. I customised their Verona headband to have pearls on to match my beautiful dress. I also had the dress adjusted to have a slightly longer train, buttons to the floor and buttons at the writs fastenings. These little amendments really made the dress feel my own. My shoes were 'Stella' by rainbow club which were both classically beautiful and also pretty comfy on the day.

A magical winter wedding in Wales

Peterstone Court was dressed for Christmas with twinkling fairy lights, christmas trees and a stunning floral archway. We wanted to keep a classically wintry theme throughout with red roses as well as evergreens within our floral displays. Charlotte from Hilary's floral design created a beautiful arch for our ceremony and the reception, she understood exactly what I wanted despite the fact I was unable to express it myself. The day itself was amazing and I honestly wish I could relive it every weekend.

The best bits

I honestly felt so lucky that our wedding went ahead pretty restriction free, and we were actually able to get married on our first date. Omicron decided to rear its nasty head about a fortnight before the day and I honestly was convinced we would have to scale things down... don't think I believed it was happening in full until the day. It felt like such a privilege to have our nearest and dearest present, and I think everyone felt equally special. Also my parents surprised me by hiring a snow machine which felt like it completed our December wedding. Walking back from photos towards the venue with everyone outside, drinks in hand as the 'snow' fell was a beautiful sight.

Clare's Advice

Having friendly suppliers on the day honestly put me at such ease, I cannot thank them enough.
