We have such a joyful Spring wedding to share with you today! Emma and Barney's day took place at Pelham House in Lewes, East Sussex, at the end of April. The day was filled with sentimental, personal touches including DIY stationery featuring a custom illustration, and cakes made by the bride herself! Beautiful floral displays with luxurious white roses and contemporary eucalyptus finished the look.

Emma wore a stunning custom Suzanne Neville wedding dress, combining the elements she loved from Calla and Amerie to create her perfect dress. Emma styled this with simple, classic accessories, opting for a delicate hair vine, timeless pearl earrings and comfortable white heels.

We asked Emma to tell us all about her wedding to Barney, which you can read below alongside beautiful images from the day.

Emma's Custom Suzanne Neville wedding dress

I knew from the minute I tried on a Suzanne Neville dress it was the designer I wanted to wear on our wedding day. Her dresses are so beautifully crafted and the material is such a high quality. I chose a combination of Calla & Amerie which gave me the fitted structured bodice I wanted with the beautiful floaty silk skirt. I loved the way it moved and felt so comfortable but secure. It made me feel so confident!

I bought my mum to the first appointment and had my bridesmaids on zoom as at that time Covid measures were still in place. I tried on a few options and despite my mum adoring the full Amerie dress, we all agreed the Calla bodice was the one for me!

Dress Shopping

Dress shopping at Miss Bush was completely different to any of the other shops I visited. It felt very special in the Chapel and almost an event in itself visiting there. My favourite thing about Miss Bush is the time and care they put into every appointment. You have the space to yourself and that was important for me as I felt slightly self conscious and apprehensive about dress shopping. Corrine made me feel so incredibly comfortable and was so knowledgeable about what could be done with the dresses. She put me so at ease and by the end I was prancing round the Chapel feeling like a princess in my chosen dress combo!

Styling

I kept my bridal styling quite simple and classic. I wore pointed rainbow club shoes which were so comfy and had pearl drop earrings and a necklace with a back drop from Honey Willow based in Bath. I always wear my hair in a similar way and didn't want to change that on my wedding day! Gavin Harvie did all of the bridal parties hair and he was a fabulous calm voice on the morning of the wedding!

About the Day

We did a lot of the decoration and styling for the day ourselves. I created the table plans, order of services and menus myself with my incredibly talented bridesmaid Seetul creating a fabulous illustration of the front of Pelham House for them. I also made the cakes and we bought the centre pieces from IKEA! It was all a bit DIY apart from the fabulous flowers supplied by Tony Dunn which complemented the sage green bridesmaids dresses so perfectly with lots of eucalyptus and beautiful white blooms.

The best bits

My favourite part of the day was simply having everyone we loved in one place laughing and having fun. Oh and our incredible saxophonist Alec Pitman who made the evening!

Emma's Advice

My advice to any other brides would be if the moment you put it on you feel confident and comfortable its the one for you. Don't diet yourself down for the impossibly fitted dress if you're going to be self conscious all day in it or have to kill yourself to get there. Wear what makes you feel fabulous now! And if you feel nervous about dress shopping, an appointment at Miss Bush will put you at ease.
