Our beautiful featured wedding today comes to you not far from Miss Bush, just down the road at West Horsley Place in Surrey. Georgie & Chris were married at the stunning Grade I listed manor house in April, in an elegantly styled day with rustic details and fresh, cheerful Spring flowers. The ceremony was followed by a fun reception in the barn with Swiss inspired elements in a nod to the groom's heritage.Georgie wore a combination of two classic Suzanne Neville gowns; Sapphire and Viola, taking all of the parts she loved from each dress to create her dream bridal outfit. The result was just stunning, and just perfect for her wedding to Chris. Georgie styled her dress with simple, elegant accessories, opting for pearl earrings, a romantic full length veil and her 'something blue' Manolo heels.

A custom Suzanne Neville wedding dress

I tried on so many different styles at my first consultation with Emma, so I knew I'd left no stone unturned for ideas! Emma, with her years of sartorial expertise, helped give clarity to my thoughts and I whittled it down to two Suzanne Neville styles: Sapphire & Viola...

I brought my Mum, and my now Mum-in-Law (particularly nice as my husband is one of two sons, so I wanted to get some girly time in with the matriarchs) and yes, a few tears were shed! What's even nicer is those two have had lots of coffee dates since! Rather unhelpfully though, their opinions on the final two dresses divided (!) and that's when I decided to combine elements from both dresses, resulting in a custom SN dress which was then perfect!

Dress Shopping

Emma and the MB team are phenomenal at their skill. The knowledge of corsetry, fabrics, dress styles and ensuring the dress fits with the theme and style of the day, was second to none. The team even helped clean and sew a clip in to my great Grandmother's wedding veil which was from 1928! As an incredibly sentimental 'something old', they helped bring it back to life so it complemented the dress.

At my final fitting, the pleating at the front of my dress wasn't smooth on one side, so Jo and the team took it fast-track back to SN HQ in London and had it fixed. No task is too big or small for this team - and that's just the reassurance every bride needs!

Styling

My something 'old' was the veil I mentioned, the 'new' was some beautiful Maysale Suede Manolo heels (which my husband very kindly gifted me!) My 'borrowed' was a handkerchief for tears from my Mum, and the (navy) 'blue' was the colour of my heels - which also matched the bridesmaid dresses from Coast. My Mum-in-law then gave me a 'sixpence in my shoe' for luck - which I had in my left heel all day! Lastly, I treated myself to some special pendant pearl earrings as they had my new married name initials on! Any excuse to shop, can you tell!? These were the cherry on top.

An elegant Spring wedding at Horsley Place

We had a church ceremony then our reception 5 mins away at West Horsley Place, a manor house in Surrey. We fell in love with the rustic nature of the building; with the old library, the winding staircase in the main hall and the overall 'shabby chic' contrast we'd have with all our beautiful guests! We went for the Wedding Breakfast across the drive in the newly built barn at the estate. It was at this point my husband's Swiss heritage came in to play, with our Après Ski-themed drinks, raclette evening munchies, and ski accessories in the barn courtyard - including a gondola brought down from Yorkshire from my cousins' company!

The best bits

The ceremony in the church meant a huge amount to me, and to see all our friends and family there in support. The band & dancing stage of the evening was great too, especially as I then had the chance to properly speak to everyone!

Georgie's Advice

Enjoy the journey - the planning, the creativity and the freedom to make the day a reflection of you two. Try to take everything in as you go - time flies on the day, and it can feel a little bit of an out-of-body experience at times!
