We're delighted to share some wonderful images today from our bride Ida, whose intimate wedding to Patrick took place at a stunning mansion in Sweden at the end of August. Ida also told us more about their day, finding her dress and their experience planning a wedding during a pandemic.
Ida wore Jesus Peiro 211, a simple, beautifully cut wedding dress with fitted vneck bodice and voluminous skirt with pleats and pockets. Whilst the sample is made from a textured Mikado and features a tulip wrap skirt, Ida made the dress her own with a full skirt, and opted for a crisp ivory satin. So chic and just perfect for the breathtaking castle location.
Read on for more images of the day, and some words about the planning process in Ida's own words.
Jesus Peiro 211 wedding dress
I love the elegance of the dress, it is beautifully cut in the back and the long train in the back makes it really special. It is a very romantic dress. As Emma said, the style of the dress is very Ralph Lauren! Emma and the Miss Bush team worked hard to make sure I got my dream dress, it was a true Cinderella moment to be able to find a dress and then have it custom made. I changed the fabric of the dress and had it cut in the back to mirror the front.
What I really find unique about Jesus Piero is how chic all the dresses are. It is a modern, yet very elegant look. The dresses are simple but elegant which is exactly what I was after - I have always been a ‘less is more’ person!
Dress Shopping
I had been to Miss Bush and seen to the beautiful chapel with one of my best friends for her wedding so I was already familiar with the team and had pretty much already decided that I was going to get my dress from Miss Bush before going to any other bridal shops! The chapel is so beautiful and peaceful and the Miss Bush team are highly professional and friendly. Emma is great at seeing what looks good on you and goes out of her way to find the right dress for you. Finding your wedding dress is an important moment and having the right people there to support you makes it the perfect experience!
Styling
I chose a long veil with lace from Miss Bush to match the long train of my dress. The shoes are from Rainbow club, they make comfortable wedding shoes which was important for me because I knew we were going to have drinks at my parents’ farm in Sweden! My husband is from Perth in Australia so I wore a south sea pearl necklace from Linnes Jewellery (a gift from my husband) and matching earrings from Courthouse Collection.
A wedding at Kronovall Castle in Sweden
We were originally going to get married in the south of France, but as Covid unfolded we decided to get married near my parents’ farm in Sweden. It ended up being a glorious day at the end of August, we had champagne on my parents' property in front of the ocean in the afternoon sun and we even got a rainbow at the end of the day when we arrived at our beautiful venue Kronovall. The team at Kronovall was really helpful and it’s such a beautiful estate. As we were only 30 people we got a small, intimate room for the dinner reception. It was perfect in every way and I honestly felt so happy all day, my family were so supportive and helpful, not to mention my amazing husband.
The plan is to renew our vows in the south of France where we were originally going to get married and have a large, fun party post-Covid. I have no doubt it will be an amazing day and something we now can look forward to without feeling any pressure. And, I get to wear my beautiful dress again!
The best bits
The best bit was, of course, to marry the love of my life. It was also really special to get married in Sweden, the church is from the 1200th century and I was also christened there. It felt special to be with family at home on such an important day.
Ida's Advice
Although getting married in a global pandemic is extremely challenging, a good thing about testing times is that it makes you think about what’s important. For us, it was to do what we both had so longed for - to get married.
My first tip for anyone who is currently planning on getting married is to talk to your partner and work out what’s important for you. Is it having that large, wide celebration, or are you a person who loves intimate events?
My second tip would be not to get too anxious and worried about what is going on at the moment. The worst thing about Covid is, of course, that it is almost impossible to plan anything but everything will work out in the end! Set a date, start planning and try to be flexible. Life is full of surprises, let yourself be surprised and take a deep breath every now and then - you will have your dream day!
