On our blog today, the absolutely glorious wedding of Isabelle and Guy, which took place at Dewsall Court in February.

Isabelle looked incredible in her custom Jesus Peiro dress, which was created from a combination of features from dresses from the 2020 Cala Collection, taking the wrap skirt from style 121 and adding it to the bodice from 927. Isabelle made the dress even more unique with the addition of some clever detachable sleeves, and the jewel embellished pocket detail from Style 123. Isabelle then styled her look with the ultimate dream shoes by Manolo Blahnik and a unique, beautiful headpeice by Lori Muldoon Millinery.

Surrounded by rich, beautiful floral displays and fun, thoughtful styling, the day was relaxed, joyful and bursting with love.

A custom Jesus Peiro wedding dress

After trying on loads of dresses in the chapel which I thought would be the one for me (loads of sparkles, floaty lace) nothing was really feeling quite right. When Rosie suggested the Jesus Peiro 121 initially I thought it would be too big but once it was on I loved it. I loved the nipped in waist, the simplicity of it and of course the wrap around front which felt great to walk around in, broke up the fabric, and gave me a chance to get my legs out! I wasn't too sure on the top, so Rosie suggested a few of the other Jesus Peiro dresses and I loved the neckline of the 927, and so began the journey of the bespoke Jesus Peiro dress.

Working with Jo and Rosie they added on the crystal pockets from the 123 which I adored as they weren't too sparkly, Jo made some detachable bardot sleeves which I wanted for the church which gave such a flattering neckline and looked amazing on the back too, and then some sparkly straps to attach for the party which meant I could move my arms and add some more sparkle for the evening.

As you can see from the photos I absolutely loved my dress, it felt amazing and I was so sad not to wear it again I put it on the next day while we were all still at Dewsall, and everyone else put a bit of their outfit on and we sat around drinking the rest of the wedding booze, eating cake, looking at the pictures and laughing at stories from the wedding.

Dress Shopping

Miss Bush was only the second wedding shop I had been to having heard amazing things and seeing so many great dresses. The Chapel is also so close to where I live which made life a lot easier for popping in for fittings, especially as we were travelling so far for the venue meetings. I managed to get an early morning appointment, which meant that my Mum couldn't make it so I just came alone. It was actually a really relaxing experience just focusing on the dresses and trying everything on and taking my time. I think that this process can become overwhelming, and even though it is a personal preference I liked just having my Mum with me throughout, and it was a lovely experience for us together. When she came the second time to see the dress(es!) and loved them I knew I wanted to go for it.

My favourite part of the dress shopping experience was seeing it all come together! As I hadn't tried on the whole dress the first time I saw it was when I came in for my first fitting. Each time I came in something new had been made, or attached, or it was fitting better and better, and then when adding shoes and accessories I just couldn't wait each time to go in and get to try it on.

I wasn't sure if I was going to change for the evening or not as the dress started to come together, could I move and dance as much as I wanted in it? Did I want something different for the party? I was really open with Jo and she suggested loads of different things, and that's when we landed on the straps solution which was perfect.

Styling

I chose a simple vintage veil from Miss Bush as I loved how it fell at the back, and I had fallen in love with Lori Muldoon's headpieces from seeing another bride wear one at Dewsall. I loved that they were beautiful and wild, and when I saw what she created for me it was just gorgeous!

I bought a feather stole from Liberty in Love for the walks to and from the church and for the photos. For jewellery Guy bought me my earrings from Grace Loves Lace for Christmas, and my bridesmaids bought me some blue earrings which they gave to me the night before which were my something blue. For borrowed I wore the ring my Dad bought my Mum when I was born.

Then finally, the shoes!

As my shoes would be really visible with the wrap around dress, I knew they needed to be something special. The shoe journey was quite possibly the longest searched for item of the day (aside from the disco balls, why did I leave it until after New Year's to buy them?!), but I kept coming back to the Manolos. I'm a Sex and the City fan and just fell in love with them. I saved up and luckily have a friend who works in Selfridges who helped me with a discount. Something must have aligned as I got the last pair in the right heel height, colour and size. Even after walking around in the mud, dancing all night they were so comfortable and barely have a mark on them. Selfridges offer a dying service which I might use in the future, but regardless I will have them forever.

A fun, modern wedding at Dewall Court

I found Dewsall in an instagram spiral looking at photographers and after we went to see it both me and Guy loved it. They were so easy to work with and just made it all so smooth, and the food was absolutely incredible. As it was the winter we wanted loads of candles and sparkles to catch the light. I saw the idea of the disco balls on pinterest and worked with the amazing Jo at Issy&Bella to make it a reality, and that theme ran through the silver curtains which we hung around the edges of the 'disco' room at the back of the dinner area, and in the artwork for all the stationary which Guy's brother Will designed and got printed for us. I knew early on the colour palette I wanted for the flowers, the bridesmaids and accessories and it all came together so well, I thought they looked absolutely stunning, and the boys all looked amazing. We mismatched the ties and pocket squares so it didn't look too matching.

The Best Bits

All of it was the best day of our lives, but the ceremony was really special. Me and Guy spent a lot of time discussing the music, songs, readings and writing our own vows to each other, and ultimately it was what we were all there for. It felt like we were the only people in the room when we read our vows, and everyone sang the songs so loudly it was just wonderful. We were so lucky with the weather, being the 1st February we thought it would be cold and raining, so when I saw the sunrise in the morning I couldn't believe it, and the walk to the church and seeing the sun through the windows was amazing.

Isabelle's Advice

For the dress, trust the process and don't rush into anything, let the girls put you in what they think and be open minded. Say if there is something you want or are thinking, they are the experts and will have loads of options they can recommend.

For the planning, enjoy it and celebrate each little bit you achieve together. Me and Guy started 'Wedding Wednesday's' where we would go to the pub and try and tick off a couple of things and just have some time dedicated so it didn't take over our lives. Personal touches that really make the day about you two make the difference, but some things just aren't worth stressing yourself out over. Prioritise what's going to make the biggest impact, or what is most important to you. Know that the last few weeks before the wedding will be completely mental, so tick off your to do list when you can and don't leave it all to the last minute!
