Today's wedding is a perfect example of a wonderfully classic, elegant wedding. Jamie & Matt were married at the picturesque local church, Saint Luke's in Milland, followed by a relaxed but elegant reception at Ramster Hall, Chiddingfold. The colour palette of white and green gave a fresh, modern feel to the day whilst the addition of fairylights in the evening created a touch of romantic atmosphere.
Jamie wore Jesus Peiro 7014 - a structured, modern gown with fitted cummerbund waist and statement bow. For a similar look, check out Jesus Peiro 110 from the 2020 collection.
Jesus Peiro 7014 modern structured wedding dress
I went for the Jesus Peiro 7014. I loved the simplicity of the design, the unusual but striking neckline and the little bow on the front! It is a classic dress with a modern twist. I think all wedding dresses are things of beauty so I liked most dresses I tried on but it is true what they say - "when you know, you know" - once I put on the 7014 I held myself differently, could not stop smiling or twirling around! Everyone in the room immediately knew it was "the one". On the wedding day I felt really beautiful - for a fairly big, satin dress it is surprisingly light and was very comfortable. Even though it has a train and a big skirt, it was still easy to move around in and dance in. Everyone absolutely loved the fact it had pockets too!
Dress Shopping
One of my bridesmaids was with me when I chose my dress. When I came out of the fitting room wearing it she couldn't stop smiling and it was clear from everyone's reaction it was "the one"! I took my Mum to the next appointment and she loved it - on the way home she said she couldn't have designed a more perfect dress for me if she tried.
It is a once in a lifetime experience and one of the only times you can really feel like a princess. It is such fun trying on lots of different designs and the excitement of finding your dress is unlike anything else.
Styling
The 7014 has lovely clean, sharp lines so I wanted to keep it classic and simple. I decided not to wear a necklace as the neckline of the dress is striking enough. I went for a simple pair of pearl drop earrings and one of my bridesmaids lent me a beautiful pearl bracelet (which was also my "something old" and "something borrowed").
I chose the Charlotte vintage veil - it was beautifully simple and the champagne colour went very nicely with the fabric of the dress. It was cathedral length but lovely and light unlike some which I felt were quite heavy in my hair.
Finding shoes was not as easy as I had hoped! I struggle with high heels and there are surprisingly few mid-height bridal shoes out there! I tried on a number of Jimmy Choos and other similar brands but in the end the pair I chose was the "Harper" from Rainbow as they had an ankle strap (making dancing very easy), a perfect mid-height heel and they were incredibly comfortable. They also had a little blue jewel on each sole as my “something blue”!
A classic, elegant Surrey wedding
I would describe it as classic and elegant. The colour scheme was white and green and there were lovely homemade touches e.g. I made all the confetti, we designed all the stationery, one of my bridesmaids did all the artwork for us and we made all the orders of service by hand. Our priority was to make sure all our friends and family had a brilliant day so we focused on making sure the food and drinks were all of excellent quality and we booked the best band (The White Keys) to make sure everyone danced the night away!
The Best Bits
Too many to choose just one! I spent months making our confetti so the confetti line outside the church was particularly special for me. The food and drinks were all delicious and the flowers in the church and the venue were beautiful. The speeches were some of the best wedding speeches I have ever heard. Dancing the night away surrounded by all our best friends and the sparkler exit were definitely highlights too!
Jamie's Advice
Go with your gut feeling when it comes to the dress - when you know, you know. The team at Miss Bush are real experts and are very good at knowing what will suit your body shape and personality. Corinne picked out the 7014 for me towards the end of my appointment as she had listened to my thoughts and feelings about the other dresses I had picked out for myself and encouraged me to try it on as she thought it would "tick all the boxes". She was right! Also, keep an open mind - I started my dress search expecting to want something slim and lacy...
I recommend asking for a wrist loop and for bustle ties. I used both during the day and was really glad for the choice.
Wedding planning is supposed to be fun! Occasionally it is easy to get swept up in it all and forget why you are doing it. Take a step back, ask for help if you need it and try and enjoy the process - it is true what they say, it really is the best day of your life and it goes by in an absolute flash. I just wish we could do it all again!
One final bit of advice is make sure you tell your photographer if there are particular things you want them to capture e.g. if you want detailed pictures of the flower arrangements or photos of the food or particular guests, let them know. Also, definitely speak to friends who have got married to ask what they wish they'd known/thought of before their wedding day.
