Gorgeous blues and golds, salt spray

SASSI HOLFORD TAMARA with Sienna top

I choose Sassi Holford Tamara for it’s clean lines, beautiful shape and heavy, luxurious fabric. I simply felt like “me” in the dress – well, a more glamorous version of me! The Sienna top was a beautiful addition for the church service and a simple but stunning full-length Athena veil completed the bridal look.

WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING

I had my Mum and and a few bridesmaids with me when I first tried this dress on. There were good “oooooooo” noises and plenty of smiles – it was all about the shape of it and when I tried it on with a veil, that’s when things got real!

I loved trying a range of dresses on and also the realisation that what you think will work well often doesn’t. My Pinterest board had a complete revamp once I’d tried on the dresses I thought I was looking for.

STYLING

I found the perfect shoes by Charlotte Mills. The style Aurora really complimented the shape of the dress and were comfy and beautifully made too.

I borrowed one of my bridesmaids’ Jenny Packham head-pieces that she wore for her wedding. It went so well with the lace of the top and wild foliage of the flowers. Dan also gave me some beautiful jewellery by Karolina Bik called Out of the Sea, which is stunning and provided my ‘something blue’.

A STUNNING COASTAL ISLE OF WIGHT WEDDING

About the day: The rich golds and blues of sand and sea inspired the colours of the day and we wanted to maximise the beautiful scenery of the Isle of Wight. The flowers were unstructured, stunning and herb-scented with an unusual golden rose courtesy of the talented Bembridge Flowers. The panoramic walls, high sides and lack of 80s-style swathes of fabric in the marquee kept things fresh and simple. We were after formal but not fussy and plenty of fun. A Tuk-Tuk took us the venue, the Brass Funkeys were off the scale amazing and the food was hearty and delicious!

My favourite part of the day was entering the marquee for the reception and seeing all our friends and family.
