Lauren & Sam's romantic wintery wedding actually took place right at the beginning of Spring! But after having to postpone their December wedding, our bride and groom carried the festive details forward with romantic twinkly lights, cosy faux fur stoles and velvet bridesmaids dresses. The later wedding date allowed them to have an extra few hours of daylight and some of the elements of the day outdoors, giving them the best of both worlds!
Lauren was an early adopter of the split skirt wedding dress trend, opting for Jesus Peiro's 121 wedding dress, with the 268 feather capped sleeve top. You simply can't wear a split skirt without a pair statement shoes, and Lauren did this in timeless, personal style with a pair of custom heels covered in her family tartan. For her headpiece, Lauren wore an Elvish style leaf and pearl tiara fir for Arwen of Rivendell herself, inspired by Sam's love of Lord of The Rings.

Jesus Peiro 121 dress with 268 top
From the moment I saw the Jesus Peiro range on the Miss Bush website I knew that's what I'd be wearing on my wedding day. Although I loved all the dresses I tried on, as soon as Emma hung up dress 121 in the dressing room I felt so excited. It was what I had dreamed of and more, from the minute I put it on I just didn't want to take it off and according to my mum 'the smile on my face' said it all. I loved the fitted top with the larger skirt but my favourite part was definitely the split at the front, it just took away any panic of not being able to walk in my dress. It also had pockets.. need I say more!
As we were originally getting married at the end of December 2021 (Covid had other ideas) we decided I needed something over the top, the 268 Jesus Peiro top was just the piece. With large buttons down the back and feathers on the sleeves it was the perfect fit for a winter wedding and something no one was expecting!
As we started my dress shopping adventure just as the shops were re-opening after lockdown I could only bring my mum in with me, however luckily Miss Bush had zoom set up in the chapel so my maid of honour and aunty were able to join us over that. They were very honest and helpful throughout but the squealing and tears made it quite clear which dress was their favourite!
Dress Shopping
My favourite part of dress shopping was just being able to try on all the different styles, feeling like a princess and being able to share that special experience with my mum.
We were very lucky not to have any problems during dress shopping or wedding planning, apart from getting Covid 6 days before our original wedding date, but I'd already picked up my dress by that point. I would say along with all the other brides that went through this journey during the pandemic, it obviously wasn't your usual experience and the stress of not knowing whether or not your day can go ahead was something else entirely but all our suppliers including Miss Bush were incredible. Even with everything going on the team always made me feel so special on every visit and the dress shopping experience was one I'll never forget.
Styling
As we were getting married in a Church I wanted to be traditional so we styled my look with a veil, it fell perfectly and I loved that you could still see the detail on the dress underneath. Being half Scottish I had to have some tartan somewhere in the day so I decided to get some shoes covered with my families tartan, they're amazing! With the front split in the dress this fitted the style excellently.
After having to postpone the wedding by a few months it gave me a bit of extra time to add to the look. My husband is a big Lord of the Rings fan so I decided an elvish type head piece would go down very well, I found a lovely pearl and silver leaf crown on etsy that I was just meant to wear for the ceremony but loved it so much ended up wearing it all day!
A Lillibrooke Manor Winter Inspired Wedding - in Spring!
Our day was so incredibly perfect, from start to finish, we just had the best day! We wanted the day to reflect us, our personalities and who we are as a couple and I think we managed to do that. We had obviously planned for a winter wedding with a theme of twinkly lights and lots of greenery, luckily Lillibrooke where really helpful and accommodating with re-arranging so being able to move it by only three months meant we didn't have to change much at all. It was a mild and sunny day, meaning we could actually be outside for the drinks reception and could make use of the stunning grounds, with an extra hour of sunlight too we feel the change of date was a blessing in disguise, it was just meant to be. It was the day we had dreamed of and more with a very relaxed feel and most importantly a celebration with all our nearest and dearest.
The best bits
Dancing out the church holding my husband's hand feeling the love of all our family and friends was definitely a highlight. But just being in a room celebrating with all our favourite people felt so unbelievably special.
Lauren's Advice
For the dress: Try to enjoy dress shopping, it's overwhelming but also something you'll (hopefully) only do once so make the most of it. Have a wild card in every shop, they'll surprise you! / Just go to Miss Bush, you'll feel like a queen!
With wedding planning: Research your suppliers - we had the most incredible team working with us and I feel that made such a difference, in the run up and on the day itself. Do what you want, add your personalities wherever you can - it's your day!
Enjoy every moment, it all goes by SO quickly!!
