Millie and Daniel's wedding took place in July on, with the ceremony at St Thomas the Apostle church in Harty followed by a beautifully styled reception at Elmley Nature Reserve on the Isle of Sheppey. The stunning venue is set within 3,300 acres of breathtaking scenery and wild, sweeping views.

Millie wore a combination of two Jesus Peiro styles to create her perfect bridal outfit, starting with the chic, elegant spaghetti strap dress from 268 topped with the boxy top with statement shoulders from 217.  This allowed Millie to change her look later in the day, removing the top for the reception and portraits!

Jesus Peiro 268 wedding dress with the 217 top

I wore Jesus Piero dress 268 with Jesus Piero top 217.

I felt like me, which for someone who doesn't often wear dresses or dress up at all, was so incredible. Me, on a really good day. I loved that it was modern, unexpected, incredibly different to anything I've seen before, and beautiful in it's simplicity.

I had my bridesmaid Georgie with me when I first found it, and my mum on Zoom (she lives abroad and wasn't able to be there due to Covid). 'That is very you' was both of their reactions. We had tried a few dresses on in the session and the 268 was the last one I tried. Alone, the dress was nice, but it wasn't yet fitted to me and I wasn't completely sold. But when Corinne suggested the top, it changed everything.

Dress Shopping

Being very honest, I didn't love a lot of the dress shopping experience outside of my visit to Miss Bush. I had spent a long time looking and tried countless dresses on, but they all felt like I was dressing as someone else. My favourite part was speaking with Corinne and finally feeling like someone really understood who I was, and what I wanted to look like on my wedding day. She knew me better than I knew myself, having only met for about 20 minutes. The top Corinne suggested was all because of the boxy style of jumper I was wearing when I arrived, it didn't even traditionally go with the dress I was trying on. That is the Miss Bush difference. Other shops will often just go with what you say, or try and mould you into the 'bridal' look. The Miss Bush team created a bridal look based on me, for me, and with me.

I was second guessing myself a lot. I had tried on a lot of dresses, and still felt unsure I knew what I liked and didn't like. So at each shop I was trying on things I knew deep down wouldn't suit me. The Miss Bush team made me realise I did know what I wanted, and I knew what did and didn't suit me. They really gave me the confidence to stick to my guns a bit more.

They also convinced me to come. I had heard such brilliant things about Miss Bush which is why I booked my appointment, but on looking on the website I began to doubt the styles were right for me. The team asked if I'd ever tried Jesus Piero and other designers on, and convinced me that if I hadn't then I should definitely come. Well...they were right. Jesus Piero dresses are so superior. The quality is above and beyond, and the Made to Measure option was perfect for me.

Styling

Overall my style was relaxed, quite modern with little hints of the unexpected.

Rather than the traditional half up half down hair do, my hair stylist Nicola included a knot into the style and accessorised with metal flower hair pins (from Eden B Studio) in place of real flowers.
My shoes were lilac strappy sandals from Bobbies and I loved them. I loved that I could wear them for years to come after the wedding, and they were perfect for honeymoon as well. Plus, I really enjoyed the reactions of people saying 'I've never seen purple wedding shoes'.
I went very simple with my jewellery. A borrowed bracelet from my mum and a vintage pair of diamond and sapphire drop earrings for the ceremony.

Because of Corinne's brilliant idea with the 217 top, I also had my dream of two looks. After dinner I was able to take the top off, revealing the delicate straps of the dress and I switched up my earrings for a more statement pair.

A beautiful Summer wedding at Elmley Nature Reserve

I was really inspired by the venue, and the fact it was so surrounded by nature. My vision for the day started and revolved completely around the flowers. I worked with the incredible Sarah at Orchard Blooms to create my dream flowers, all local wild flowers in soft pastel tones, styled in a loose and natural way. We didn't have a colour palette as such, but went for dusty natural tones for the tables inspired by the flowers. I also happened to have incredibly talented friends, one of which painted our table signs - all hot sauces - quite a different vibe to wild flowers, but something that felt completely us.

The best bits

This is so hard to pick as there was so many highlights. We adored the meal and the speeches, having all the people we loved in one room after what had been the hardest few years, was such a surreal and incredible moment. And I can't not mention the dancing, our band were brilliant, and being the day before the Euro finals we all had a massive singalong to 'It's Coming Home'... not what I imagined remembering most from our wedding day, but it was the best atmosphere.

Millie's Advice

Use Pinterest, but then ignore it. You can spend so long comparing your wedding to pictures you see, and in fact yours would never be like that, because you're not them. For dress shopping, trust your gut, it's rarely wrong.
