Our gorgeous bride Vicky married Sam in August, with a ceremony at Cheam Baptist Church followed by dinner and evening reception at the gorgeous Smallfield Place - which Vicky called "the most beautiful and unique country house in Surrey!"

As an art teacher, Vicky included lots of creative elements in her wedding to Sam, which included her stunning Jesus Peiro outfit. Starting with the chic split skirt from style 236, Vicky added the boxy cropped top from style 217. The textured brocade fabric and bold statement shoulders of the top worked brilliantly next to the sleek, elegant skirt. The final look is the perfect example of how brides can mix and match separates to create their own unique bridal style. Read Vicky's dress shopping journey below to find out how we adapted the top so she could still wear a bra whilst rocking the incredible open back...

Jesus Peiro bridal separates

I know I loved Jesus Peiro and there were so many separates I was dying to try on. We played around with a few combinations until Corinne suggested a new combination of the 236 skirt and the 217 boxy cropped jacket in a gorgeous textured fabric I couldn't resist! As soon as I had then on I knew it was what I wanted to get married in - it felt fun, modern, timeless and unique - I'd never seen a wedding dress like it. It was also the only dress I tried where I actually let like myself rather than playing dress up!Due to COVID restrictions I had just my mum with me, which was actually ideal as I think too many people's opinions would have overwhelmed me!

Dress Shopping

I loved the intimacy of just being there with my mum and Corinne who was so wonderful, we never felt rushed and she really listened to what I said meaning we found the perfect combination so quickly!

We had to work out what to wear under the jacket due to the cropped boxy shape and open back! No bra quite looked right and we didn't want to ruin the open back look by wearing a body. The team were amazing and came up with a solution of using the same textured fabric of the jacket to cover the back of a thin bra strap to create a line which looked like it was part of the top. The Miss Bush team never made it seem like extra work and genuinely wanted to help you look your best!

Styling

I had a long simple veil for the church so as not to take away from the structure and style of the separates. I brought earrings from the Royal Academy of Art's artist shop - handmade gold swirl drops with a pearl on the end.

A modern, creative wedding in Surrey

It would say it was a classic, timeless look with lots of modern, unique and arty touches! As an art teacher myself, we made a lot of things by hand and it was a real team effort which made it feel very special. I wanted there to be lots of colour - red, pink and green! Sam and I both love to create and design so really enjoyed creating the vision together over a locked-down engagement!

The best bits

Walking into the church bursting with our friends and family - many of whom we hadn't seen since before the pandemic. It was one of the first weeks where everyone could join and you could feel the joy and energy in the building - I've never heard people sing so loudly! After the busyness of the service and lunch in the church halls, it was lovely to go down to Smallfield Place for a more intimate dinner and evening reception. I felt like I could relax and (literally) let my hair down. My face hurt from smiling so much and we never wanted the say to end.
