Lit by cosy, romantic candles and sparkling fairy lights, Stone Barn in the Cotwolds made the perfect backdrop for  Victoria and William's simple, natural and relaxed wedding day. The couple chose to style the day with lots of lush greenery and foliage, including wintery Mistletoe, which worked wonderfully alongside the whitewashed stone walls of the traditional barn.

Suzanne Neville's iconic Geddes wedding dress was the ideal choice for Victoria, who looked effortlessly chic and elegant in the exquisitely fitted, sleek gown. Full length sleeves made it just right for a winter wedding, whilst the delicate lace paneled statement back adds interest to the back of the gown.

Suzanne Neville Geddes wedding dress

As soon as I put the dress on I knew it was 'the one'. It was beautifully simple yet elegant and made me very special. On the day, I had so many wonderful comments on how I looked and how the dress was simply 'made for me' which was lovely. It was the most special item of clothing I have ever worn and I wish I could wear it every single day going forward!

My mother and sister came to the appointment with me. My sister's reaction is how I knew it was the dress for me - she told me I had 'the weird expression on my face you've had since a kid when you really like something' which apparently I hadn't had with any other dress. My mother was in floods of tears with every dress...

Dress Shopping

My favourite part of the dress shopping experience was how lovely the team were at Miss Bush. Corinne knew immediately what would suit me, however made me try on a few different pieces so we could be sure we knew what it was we were looking for. It always helps when you are in such a beautiful venue like The Chapel and have a glass of bubbly in your hand!

I didn't experience any problems what so ever, from start to finish everything was perfectly seamless (excuse the pun!)

Styling

I had planned to wear a veil however on the morning of the wedding I made a last minute decision to leave it as the dress was so beautiful it seemed a shame to cover it up in anyway and during any part of the day. The shoes were very inexpensive and bought online, I knew they would get absolutely trashed from dancing and being a winter wedding in the middle of the sticks they were bound to get muddy - I was right!

A simple winter barn wedding

I've always loved simple decoration, and colour palettes and with my favourite colour being green it was very easy! Lots of foliage, Olive leaves and Eucalyptus with the odd Christmas tree and mistletoe thrown in! I've always loved medieval candles and gothic/ church like buildings which Stone Barn was the perfect venue for!

Simplicity was key for me.

Victoria's Advice

Go with your gut instinct and how you feel when moving in the dress. I knew with my dress I wouldnt have to worry about things I normally would, bad skin (I had a long sleeve dress), I would be comfortable dancing and not worried about breathing in from start to finish! I could have slept in my dress which I almost had to as my new husband had drunk far too many vinos that we did struggle to get all the buttons undone at the back!
