We're so delighted to share Zara and Alex's gorgeously understated and quietly cool London wedding with you today. Zara is the first bride we've shared wearing the stunning 940 wedding dress by Jesus Peiro, which was the most perfect choice for the relaxed, chic nature of their day. The reception took place at All Saints' Church, Fulham, with addition of a beautiful bespoke veil to add drama to the dress, followed by a reception at Fulham Palace.
Read on to find out more about Zara and Alex's wonderful day, along with lots of beautiful photographs by Helen Abraham.
Jesus Peiro 940 wedding dress
I went for the Jesus Peiro 940 in Ivory Crepe.
It was so simple but unique. The sleeves and the back were fab - and I loved the Ossie Clark meets Timotei vibe! The bespoke Amelia veil also finished it off perfectly.
I felt amazing wearing the dress on the day and very much me.
I brought my mother - a fashionable shopaholic - with me when I found the dress, and she adored it as soon as I put it on. She also loved the whole Miss Bush experience.
Dress Shopping
I LOVE shopping so I didn't struggle with trying on lots of wedding dresses! Miss Bush was the last boutique I went to and by far the best - wish I'd gone sooner. The whole experience was wonderful, fun and seamless- from the initial appointment, to the styling session and the fittings - thank you so much Emma, Rosie, Jo and the team.
The Miss Bush family totally understood what I was after, and were so helpful and calm. Really miss my trips down there!
I had struggled to find a dress that was 'me'. Everything was either a little too serious or not quite my style. Within an hour at Miss Bush, Emma had sorted this! She has an excellent eye and really helped me to channel the vibe I was after. Everyone at Miss Bush went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome - no question or issue was too big. And they are absolute pros at dealing with any last minute bridal stresses!
Styling
I styled it with a bespoke Amelia veil covered in applique flowers (heavenly), Jimmy Choo green shoes (epic) and simple pearl earrings (a forever wedding gift from my parents).
An understated, natural and cool London wedding
My goal was an understated, natural and cool London wedding.
We got married at the church down the road from where I grew up and while Alex and I left in a 1960s Bentley, our guests were able to walk from there to the reception through a beautiful walled garden.
Fulham Palace is a little slice of countryside in the middle of London - it's beautiful and historic, and we were so lucky with the late September sunshine. The church and the venue were also filled with beautiful white and green flowers - a key focus for me.
We drank cider and champagne in the sun, listened to wonderful speeches over dinner and danced the night-away to a great band fueled by copious amounts of cocktails.
A wonderful day surrounded by our favourite people.
Zara's Advice
On dresses - go with your gut and choose something that makes you feel a) great but b) like yourself. Be brave but don't let the dress wear you! Also accessories are key.
On wedding planning, a master spreadsheet is a must. Instagram and Pinterest are great but can be overwhelming for brides to be. Work out early on what you really want from the wedding/what you want to prioritise e.g. music, flowers, food - and try to stick to those. Also don't feel pressured to go above and beyond/reinvent the wheel - remember, your guests are there to celebrate you.
